Arizona

What a great week this has been! I toured all six of our AZ facilities this week and was extremely impressed by the operations and by our professional staff. I also had the opportunity to conduct several mini-town meetings with staff to discuss issues facing CCA. Very good questions from our folks and I enjoyed the discussion.
While I was at Red Rock, I observed our staff conducting the new Alert training program. Everyone did a great job!
I also had meetings with ICE, USMS, and AZ DOC leadership. They were all very complimentary of our operations.

Sound Out
Maria Ramos at FSC:
This past week, February 15th thru 19th, I visited all of AZ facilities. The first facility we were scheduled to visit was La Palma. I was immediately impressed, greeted by a furry CCA K-9 officer we had to vacate our car for inspection. What a thrill that was, not so friendly but very focused, and he knew his duty and he delivered.
Tatiana Murrieta at Central AZ:
I think this blogging is a fabulous idea! I always enjoy hearing from you! Didn't get to meet you while you were here, but I was updated on what you had to say! 8-)
Daniel Mendoza at Eloy Detention Center:
This was a great idea....with all of the social networking sites online today, why not have our own??!!
Alan R. Strong at Crowley County Correctional Facility:
I enjoy reading about company events. Keep it up.
Officer Valentine at La Palma Correctional Center:
I have gone through the Alarm Response Training and have found it to be the most beneficial training I've had thus far with the company. I have heard rumors that this will go company wide, is this true?
The feedback from the field regarding alarm response training has been overwhelmingly positive. As a result, we are currently evaluating the possibility of providing the training companywide. Thanks for your question.
William Stokes at EDC:
With all the changes to the uniform and grooming policies a lot of staff are wondering if there is any chance of getting a facial hair policy change to where a male officer/staff can wear a well maintained goatie?
No, not at this time. Thanks for the question.
Linda Sevison at Idaho Correctional Center:
I had the opportunity to visit the Red Rock Correctional Center in Arizona in September of 2008. It was a great experience, especially since I had never been to another CCA facility or any other prison or detention-type center. I was surprised at the physical differences between our facilities yet it felt like "home" because of the staff. I think it's great that you take the time to visit the facilities, although I am sure it is very time-consuming!
angelica at la palma:
did cca is opening a new facility in tucson az? and when?
We have not opened a facility in Tucson. Thanks for your question.
E. Corral at Eloy Detention Center:
There has been a lot of speculation about officers having to absord the cost of the new uniforms we are getting at our facility. Is this true in any sense of the matter? Also, are merit incentive bonues going to be every year in place of raises, or can we expect to have raises upon the economy growing strong again?
We are not asking employees to absorb the cost of new uniforms. In terms of the incentive payment, the management team of CCA will consider a variety of factors, including the strength of the economy and its recovery, before making future decisions regarding merit increases. This year, an incentive payment was the best available solution to show our appreciation for the continued commitment of our employees. We will continue to monitor these factors over the course of the next twelve months before we reach any decisions about next year.
E. Corral at Eloy Detention Center:
We at Eloy detention center have been hearing that uniforms are changing for us. We've even heard that the uniforms have been purchased. Can you please shed any truths about these allegations. Are we at Eloy Detention Center getting new uniforms? If so, when can we expect to get them? Thank you for your time!
