2009 Employee of the Year

Published on January 11, 2010

As the year begins drawing to a close, CCA facilities are abuzz with excitement and good natured speculation about just who among our 17,500 employees will be named “Employee of the Year.”

Each of our 65 facilities spends time each year trying to determine who may be best suited for this major honor. They look at the contributions, work ethic, leadership and proven potential of to see if they rise to the level of being Employee of the Year.

Over the past few weeks, members of the Employee of the Year Committee at the Facility Support Center have spent many hours reading through all 65 nominations received from our fine facilities. We have been impressed by the dedication, drive and determination of our employees. We have been wowed by acts of diligence, selflessness, bravery, compassion and the utmost professionalism.

Marty is clearly an innovative visionary with a heart that desires to help others. His business savvy results in cost effectiveness for the Crowley facility – and for the company. Marty’s efforts are backed by tangible results and real-life outcomes that reflect the mission of our rehabilitative inmate programs – to change lives, one inmate and one day at a time.

Warden Smelser described Marty as “a born motivator,” and I couldn’t agree more. From community engagement to professional development, he exemplifies “The CCA Way” in action. He not only believes in our 12 guiding principles; he lives according to them each day.

You’ll be able to read more about Marty and his career highlights in coming weeks. We’ll be featuring a story in the January issue of Correct Perspectives and on InsideCCA.com.

As we take in this special moment, take some time to look within and pat your facility’s Employee of the Year on the back. They all deserve credit for a job more than well done.

It is now my pleasure to announce that Marty Fleischacker, principal at our Crowley County Correctional Facility, is CCA’s 2009 Employee of the Year. His nomination especially stood out from the extremely competitive pool of highly capable, extremely productive and respectfully esteemed CCA employees, who are among the most dedicated and driven members of our CCA family.
