Laretta Y. Johnson
Laretta Y. Johnson has been promoted to chief of security at Correctional Treatment Center. Johnson joined CCA in 1997 as a correctional officer at Correctional Treatment Center, where she also served as sergeant, case manager, lieutenant and shift supervisor.

Martin La Barbera
Martin La Barbera has been named director, Addictions Treatment and Behavioral Programs. La Barbera brings over 20 years of criminal justice experience. He has held multiple supervisory roles in community corrections, offender treatment and rehabilitation, and other areas. Most recently, La Barbera served as national director of Training and Program Development at Corrections Research Institute. He also worked for Cornell Companies as managing director of Training and Personnel Development, and developed the Cornell Training Institute. La Barbera holds a master’s in administration of justice, corrections and education administration.
Kentucky
Daniel Akers
Daniel Akers has been promoted to warden at Marion Adjustment Center. Akers joined CCA in 1998 as quality assurance manager at Otter Creek Correctional Center, where he also served as administrative assistant, shift supervisor, SORT commander, unit manager and security threat group coordinator. Akers was promoted to chief of security at Lee Adjustment Center before going to Marion Adjustment Center as assistant warden. He spent five years at Otter Creek before it was CCA-owned, and served as a correctional officer, sergeant, assistant shift supervisor, lieutenant, quality assurance manager and administrative assistant.
Grady Perry
Grady Perry has been promoted to warden at Lee Adjustment Center. Perry joined CCA in 1992 as a correctional officer at South Central Correctional Facility where also served as senior correctional officer, shift supervisor and assistant chief of security before being promoted to assistant warden at Silverdale Detention Facility. Grady served for 13 years in the Tennessee National Guard.
Mississippi
Bobby Phillips
Bobby Phillips has been named warden at Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility. Phillips joined CCA in 1995 as assistant warden at Bartlett State Jail before transferring to the formerly-operated Sanders Estes Unit as assistant warden. He was promoted to warden at the formerly-operated Diboll Correctional Center. Phillips later went to FSC as director, Security. Before joining CCA, Phillips spent 11 years with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he started as a correctional officer and promoted through the ranks to become a warden. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology and corrections from Sam Houston State University and a juris doctor degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law.
Jacqueline Rice
Jacqueline Rice has transferred to Adams County Correctional Center as chief of unit management. Rice joined CCA in 2007 as a case manager at California City Correctional Center, where she also served as chief of unit management. Prior to joining CCA, Rice spent 24 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where she promoted through the ranks from correctional officer to case management coordinator. Rice holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Olivet College. She is currently earning her master’s degree in education.
Jerry Wardlow
Jerry Wardlow has been promoted to assistant warden at Tallahatchie County Detention Facility. Wardlow joined CCA in 1997 as a correctional officer at Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility, where he also served as assistant shift supervisor, shift supervisor, chief of security and chief of unit management. He has been a SORT member for five years. Wardlow served for eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps and is a veteran of Desert Storm. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
New Mexico
Jason Frazier
Jason Frazier has been promoted to chief of security at New Mexico Women’s Correctional Facility. Frazier joined CCA in 2002 as a correctional officer at Florence Correctional Center before transferring to Kit Carson Correctional Center where he served as a correctional officer, senior correctional officer, assistant shift supervisor, shift supervisor and unit manager. Frazier was promoted to assistant chief of security at the formerly-operated Diamondback Correctional Facility. Before joining CCA, Frazier worked as a detention officer at the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department.
Nevada
Joe Ponte
Joe Ponte has been named warden at Nevada Southern Detention Center. Ponte joined CCA in 2006 as warden at Bay County Jail. Prior to CCA, Ponte spent 37 years in corrections. He started as a correctional officer at the Massachusetts Department of Corrections where he promoted through the ranks to become warden at two different facilities before being named assistant deputy commissioner. Ponte later served as assistant director of Institutions and Operations at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, regional manager at Cornell Corrections, director of Union County Jail, administrator of prisons at the Idaho Department of Corrections and director of Shelby County Jail. He served for five years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
