CCAssist Launches First Annual Giving Campaign: Reaching Goals, Touching Lives

ACA employee certificants

In just one week, CCA will kick off its first annual CCAssist Giving Campaign, which will run throughout the month of August.

Currently, about 25 percent of CCA employees contribute to the Fund through payroll deduction.

“We have set a goal of reaching 50 percent of CCA employees system-wide contributing to CCAssist Fund through monthly payroll deduction,” says Scott Craddock, CCA assistant general counsel, Compliance and CCAssist president. “This is roughly 4,500 people becoming first-time donors. Your contribution can really touch lives.”

In 2009, CCAssist collected over $325,000 through payroll deduction, helping approximately 600 families. This year, the Fund provided valuable resources for employees affected by flooding in Tennessee and tornados in Oklahoma, and brought relief to employees enduring other hardships.

What’s more, CCAssist recently reached an exceptional milestone, having raised and distributed $1 million to over 2,000 employees in need since its inception. And in August, employees will have the opportunity to help CCAssist make even greater strides.

During the campaign, employees – and facilities as a whole – will have the opportunity to give one-time contributions. Checks can be made payable to “CCAssist Fund” and submitted to HR managers. A volunteer campaign chair person at each facility will help promote the campaign and will invite employee engagement committees to join in generating fundraising ideas. Additionally, every CCA location will have new CCAssist Fund brochures that contain a payroll deduction form.

“Going forward, every August will be the dedicated month for our CCAssist Fund Annual Giving Campaign, a time when we will very visibly show our support for this worthy cause,” Craddock says.

Although the August campaign focuses on raising funds for CCAssist, new and existing employees may donate through payroll deduction at any time throughout the year.

CCAssist – the CCA Employee Assistance Fund – is a related 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides emergency financial support to CCA employees experiencing difficult times. Established in 2006, the Fund helps employees with short-term needs resulting from catastrophic events like natural disasters, unmanageable medical expenses related to serious illness and final expenses.

Linda Sevison at Idaho Correctional Center:

The CCAssist Fund is a great program. We have had several employees at our facility who were helped in their time of need. I have been donating through payroll deduction since the program began, and I have not regretted it. You never know when you may be the one in need.
