August CCA Way Contest Winner, Tina Hodge

The August CCA Way contest focused on the guiding principle of accountability, a principle that CCA is proud to promote and expects from all employees. Read what August contest winner, Tina Hodge, had to say about accountability.

What Accountability Means To Me In Projecting the CCA Way

My name is Tina Hodge and I am the QA manager at Gadsden Correctional Facility in Quincy, FL. I have been with CCA for over 11 years and I have held many positions during my employment. Accountability is one of the most valuable principals in the CCA Way. I have learned over the years that Accountability must begin with self then stream down to the staff under you.

Self Accountability will assist you in setting and maintaining goals for your career, company, facility and your department. If you can learn the fact the Accountability standards you set for yourself must be at 110% if you expect your staff's Accountability to be at 100%. You must evaluate yourself daily to ensure you are far above your expectations for those who look up to you as a leader. If you have faults you must address those faults and correct them to prevent those faults from flowing down into your staff. A great example of this would be your professionalism. If you are late for work, use fowl language, or maybe just have a habit of allowing things to cause you to be upset then you take it out on people that have nothing to do with your disposition then how can you hold your staff accountable for these same actions or actions that may not be as sever?

We must always remember that our customers, staff and inmates are always watching what we do. The impression we leave maybe the one thing that can encourage or discourage others. Accountability must always begin with self and then we can spread it out to others.
