What the CCA Way Means to Me

by Donelle Harris, FSC, Business Unit I Training Manager

Donelle Johnson, Voices, CCA Way Means to Me

The CCA Way means a lot to me because it's a guide on how we should conduct ourselves on a daily basis. I'm going to break down what each guiding principle means to me, because I do work hard to implement all of them.

Loyalty- I am loyal to the company I work for. I work in the training department located at the Nashville office and when I go to other facilities, I speak to employees in both in-service classes and new hire classes. I speak well of the company and I encourage employees to rise to the top in all that they do.

Integrity- I display integrity in my work and in my personal life. I have values and goals and that's what I want others to see in me as I visit the facilities and at work on a daily basis.

Trust- I believe that I am trust worthy and if I tell you I will do something you can believe that it will get done. My word is my bond.

Respect- I am a respectful person. If I come to a facility to visit, I show respect by finding out what the guidelines are. If there is a misunderstanding I will respectfully try to get it resolved; I don't like conflict.

Communication- I feel communication is very important, because that is the only way that you can get your point across. All communication counts.

Cost Effectiveness- When I'm traveling, I try to save the company money through the cars I rent, the restaurants I go to, the hotels I stay in, and the airlines that I choose. Also, I stay at a family member's house if I have one close by.

Accountability- I hold myself accountable for my actions. I do not try to blame others for what I do.

Service Driven- I'm excited everyday about coming to work to do my job. Outside of work, I enjoy going out into the community and volunteering.

Teamwork- I display teamwork with other departments. I'm flexible concerning others needs and I enjoy being there for others.

Innovation- I love learning new things. I'm so excited when I learn something new that I want to share it with everyone.

Quality- I'm working on the quality of my time. I want to do so much, but do not have enough time. I strive to produce quality work that I can feel good about.

Safety and Security- I practice safety and security every time I walk into a facility, by making sure that I am not bringing in anything that would be considered contraband.

Always remember that you do not only represent yourself when you're out there in the community, but you are representing your family and the company that you work for as well. So we should always do the right thing even when we think no one is looking, because you never know who has their eyes on you. Let's learn it, live it, and do it!
