Recognizing our Staff on Labor Day
To my fellow CCA Colleagues:
This coming Monday, we will recognize Labor Day. Like many of you, I have many fond memories of this special day. If it is a quick road trip to a popular tourist attraction, an opportunity to squeeze in one final visit to the lake or pool, or having friends and family over for a barbecue, Labor Day has in many ways come to signify the end of summer. But obviously the true intent of the time has a deeper meaning and importance.
The United States Department of Labor says, "the vital force of labor added materially to the highest standard of living and the greatest production the world has ever known and has brought us closer to the realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy. It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pays tribute on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation's strength, freedom, and leadership -- the American worker."
With that, it is important that CCA pay tribute on Labor Day to the force behind the company's strength, growth and leadership as the best full-service adult corrections system in the United States – the CCA employee.
Over the last 13 months, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing many of you in action during my facility visits. I have no shortage of proud moments from my personal reflections of these stops. From seeing the important work of staff at our Crossroads facility during a beautiful Montana day this summer and serving steaks at our Diamondback facility to in honor of our colleagues for a "job well done" to seeing the passion of our programs staff at our Crowley facility in trying to make a meaningful impact on inmates’ lives, I am honored to be a part of the most capable work force in the nation.
From excitedly observing new staff at our Adams facility as they diligently activate an entirely new project and walking through the large La Palma complex where staff keep safety and security first to seeing our Colorado and Oklahoma Transcor staff executing complex missions for our partners and knowing how our Facility Support Center professionals in Quality Assurance, Operations, Human Resources and many other departments support our facilities . . . all of these experiences make me extremely proud of the important work that we ALL do for CCA.
In fact, we do it not only for the company, but for our communities, our co-workers and the betterment of our country’s corrections system.
So, from me personally, as I spend time with my family at home this weekend, I will be thinking of you and being ever so thankful for what you do.
Have a great holiday.
