NCOEW: A Time to Appreciate Each Other

by President and CEO Damon Hininger

Damon Hininger Preferred

My fellow CCA Colleagues,

A highlight of my role as your leader is visiting with the remarkable and dedicated staff during my facility tours across this company. I always come away renewed about CCA's important role in our nation's correctional system. This week, as we celebrate National Correctional Officers and Employees Week, May 2-8, I am very reflective about the significant accomplishments of you and your more than 17,000 co-workers.

Each day, as we keep our staff and inmates safe, prevent and control incidents, rehabilitate the men and women in our care, give back to our communities, provide peace of mind to our government partners, all while saving hard-working taxpayers' dollars, we are achieving success in corrections – and proudly doing it The CCA Way.

Our profession is one of the most challenging in the country. Few people outside of corrections truly understand the level of commitment, bravery, skill and confidence it takes to be in corrections. As a company, we are committed to continuing to raise the level of understanding throughout our communities and throughout our country of the important role you as a corrections professional play in America today.

All of you will receive a special CCA lapel pin this week. I'm proudly wearing mine and invite you to as well. Let's remember that every time you wear a CCA uniform, wear an item with a CCA logo, present a business card, or simply acknowledge that you work for CCA, you are representing our entire company, and you also are leaving a lasting impression about the entire field of corrections. We are each responsible for helping corrections grow to become one of the most respected professions in America. I encourage you to show your pride every day, just as I have strived to do since joining this fine profession many years ago.

During this special week, let’s make an effort to show our appreciation for each other and the incredible undertaking we assume with pride – and perseverance – every step of the way.

We want to hear from you about your experiences in corrections, so please take time to visit www.insidecca.com and share comments on our article about National Correctional Officers and Employees Week for all of us to read.

On behalf of everyone at CCA, I congratulate all of us for work well-done.

Sincerely, Damon
