CCA Flag Travels to Iraq
Recently, the CCA flag traveled from the FSC in Nashville to Baghdad, Iraq. The CCA flag was flown above the United Sates Embassy for a brief moment then returned to the FSC along with the National Colors that were flown over the embassy on Independence Day 2009. The National Colors were presented to CCA by the USDOJ Corrections Advisors on the corrections mission.
It was truly and honor and privilege to have our company’s colors flown as a gesture to the sacrifice and courage of the many men and women that represent our country in the fight against terrorism and the development of the Iraq Correctional Service.
The USDOJ/ICITAP corrections mission has served to assist Iraq in development and capacity building of the Iraqi correctional system. The leadership of CCA has been in total support of this critical mission allowing me the privilege of serving on the corrections advisory team as a Deputy Director of the National Corrections Training Center. I’m truly grateful to CCA for allowing me to assist in the development of the Iraqi Correctional Services.
I look upon CCA as a leader in training and staff development when it comes to enhancing the correctional and professional development of our staff. I have never had the opportunity in 24 years of corrections to enhance my level of development in this manner through the direct support of the organization I serve: indeed it is an honor.
CCA leadership has offered me the opportunity to work with true professionals in developing the newly opened LaPalma Correctional Center during the past year and now has granted me an opportunity to operate down range in the international arena. I plan on returning this experience in all levels of facility management upon my return.
CCA’s professional mentorship is truly a credit to the leadership of our company and the dedicated professionals that operate within it every day. Having our company’s flag flown at the U.S Embassy alongside the National Colors is just a small token of appreciation for this honor.
CCA continues to instill in me the notion that development of our staff today produces our leaders of tomorrow. Our guiding principles are not simply ink on a page but a definition of true leadership and influence that promotes staff development and professionalism in the industry’s leader of private corrections. For this I’m very thankful. Lastly, I look forward to working with the CCA family upon my return.
