New CCA Blog Spotlights “CCA Communities”
There’s a new way for CCA employees to share the many positive ways they impact their communities – in just a few clicks. The company has launched a new blog on CCAcommunities.com that’s dedicated to highlighting community goodwill and giving back at CCA facilities across the country.
“Our facilities and employees are so active in their communities,” says Jenna Slocum, CCA director, Communications. “Many of our facilities are situated in small communities where every volunteer makes a tremendous impact. It’s an extremely admirable commitment that our employees have made.”
CCA employees nationwide participate in charitable walks, food drives, scholarship fundraisers, building projects with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and much more. The CCACommunities.com blog provides a single repository for these activities.
“The blog is searchable, so visitors will be able to see what an individual facility is doing over time and the kinds of events that are most popular,” Slocum says.
Blog entries – many of them with accompanying photos – are archived categorically by year, month and facility. CCAcommunities.com was launched over a year ago to introduce communities to CCA and the many benefits of partnership with the company.
“It’s easy to say we’re committed to being a good corporate citizen, but we want to also provide tangible examples of what we do, and the blog is a way for us to do that,” says Louise Grant, CCA vice president, Communications.
Employees proudly serve their neighbors and believe in sharing the good news.
“It’s important that we’re seen not only as corrections professionals maintaining safe and secure facilities, but also as members of our local community,” says Linda Sevison, quality assurance administrative assistant and public information officer at Idaho Correctional Center. “After all, we live, work and play in the community, and sharing information gives them an opportunity to see our ‘other’ side.”
Employees say the CCACommunities.com blog enhances visitors’ ability to get a feel for the company’s culture.
“Showcasing what our employees do everyday in their communities puts a very personal face on CCA,” says Sandy Clark, records supervisor and public information officer at Diamondback Correctional Facility. “When you can actually see the employees of a company give of their own personal time and effort to make a difference in their communities, it’s a testament to the true heart of the company.”
