CCA Names New Human Resources Chief

Brian Collins VP

Brian Collins has been named CCA executive vice president and chief human resources officer. He succeeds Bill Rusak, who joined CCA in July 2006 and is providing transitional assistance through June.

Collins, who joined CCA in 2006, previously served as vice president, Operations. In his new role, Collins is responsible for the strategic, operational and administrative role of the human resources functions for CCA’s workforce of nearly 17,500 employees.

Before joining CCA, Collins served in a variety of business and human resources roles during his 25 year career with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., including personnel training and development, field operations and support management. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas and serves on the Alcohol and Drug Council Board of Middle Tennessee.

“Brian has proven himself during his tenure at CCA as not only a proficient leader in the area of facility operations and financial management, but also as a skilled visionary and hands-on practitioner in the very important areas of recruitment, staff retention, professional development and leadership succession,” said Damon Hininger, CCA president and CEO.

Collins has provided leadership, support and oversight to 19 facilities. His tenure in Operations saw the development and ramp-up of some of CCA’s most enterprising and innovative projects, including Adams County Correctional Center in Natchez, Miss., and La Palma Correctional Center in Eloy, Ariz.

“We are positioning ourselves for major changes in 2010,” Collins said. “This year, we’ll see processes and plans we’ve been building come to fruition. I’m looking forward to that.”
